Hildegard Frieda Albertine Knef (German: [ˈhɪldəɡaʁt ˈkneːf] ; 28 December 1925 – 1 February 2002) was a German actress, singer, dubbing actress and writer. While she was known in the German-speaking areas as Hildegard Knef, she became known (against her wishes) from 1948 to approx. 1968 outside the German-speaking world as Hildegard Neff. From 1950 she was a US-American citizen and in 2001 renewed her German citizenship.
