Slater won the Laureus World Sports Awards category of Action Sportsperson of the Year four times (2007, 2009, 2011, 2012). and Lifetime Achievement Award (2025). He is also the oldest surfer still active in the World Surf League, winning his 8th Billabong Pipeline Masters title at age 49.
