Wolf Ackva (30 July 1911 – 16 January 2000) was a German actor. He appeared in more than 70 films and television shows between 1935 and 1996. Wolf Ackva was born in German-controlled Alsace-Lorraine in 1911 (now part of France). He studied medicine in Berlin until changing over to acting, under the mentorship of theater director Otto Falkenberg. He was conscripted into the Nazi Wehrmacht during World War II and was a prisoner of war. After the war, Ackva returned to stage acting, becoming active on the Munich stage in the 1950s. Working with voice-dubbing actor Herbert Weicker (who did the German voice of Mr. Spock in the original "Star Trek" TV series), Ackva became a sucessful voice-dubbing actor. One of his earlier German voice-dubbing jobs was for the 1955 movie "Mister Roberts". Ackva met his wife Els (a TV video technitian) in 1957. Ackva appeared in several German TV shows on ARD and Bayerischer Rundfunk in the 1960s and 1970s, especially as Inspector Steiner in the "Detective Joseph Wanninger". Ackva also did the dubbed German voice of Sam the Eagle in The Muppet Show TV series from 1976 to 1981. He is best known for his voice-dubbing in several James Bond movies. Ackva died in the small village of Viehbach (near Fahrenzhausen) after a long illness in 2000.
