In January 2022, Parsons began publishing the viral web series Backrooms, based on the creepypasta of the same name, to his YouTube channel. A film adaptation, which he directed, was released by A24 in May 2026 to critical and commercial success. At 20, Parsons became the youngest director to top the box office with a $212.7 million global opening.
