Park Chung-seop: History and Key Facts

Park Chung-seop (Korean: 박충섭; pronounced [pak̚.tɕʰuŋ.sʰʌp̚]) is a fictional character in the 2025 Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines, created by screenwriter Lim Sang-choon. Portrayed by Kim Seon-ho in a special appearance throughout Volume III and IV, he is a film poster painter and art teacher who becomes the love interest and later husband of Yang Geum-myeong (played by IU).

Despite limited screen time, the character drew significant attention due to Kim Seon-ho's performance. His wedding scene in episode 13 inspired the global "Kim Seon-ho Smile Challenge." This viral meme was cited by a Netflix Korea marketing executive as a case study in organic, audience-driven content engagement at the 2026 media conference at Yonsei University.
