Young People’s Records (YPR) was a children's record label founded by producer, musician, teacher, and entrepreneur, Horace Grenell, in 1946. The firm was managed by Grenell and long-time music business supervisor, production manager, and executive, Lester Troob. Young People’s Records was primarily a mail-order subscription club from 1946-1957. After 1952, the label became retail only, except for titles that were reissued on the related label, The Children’s Record Guild (CRG), which was subsequently sold through the Book-of-the-Month Club. All records issued by YPR and CRG were pressed on more durable vinyl rather than brittle shellac.
