Bobby Rush (born Emmett Ellis Jr. in 1933), is an American blues musician, composer, and singer. Rush incorporates several styles of music in his playing including blues, electric blues, soul, R&B, funk, and disco. He has released numerous recordings on Philadelphia International, La Jam, Deep Rush, and Rounder record labels. Rush has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, and Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame. He is the recipient of Grammy Awards for his albums, Porcupine Meat and Rawer Than Raw.
