This flugelhorn was made by Franz Hörth in Saarbrücken, Germany, in 1913. It is a flugelhorn in B-flat, made of brass with nickel silver trim, with 3 mechanical rotary valves. The conical section is very short and narrow, with tuning slide after the valve section. The instrument is engraved on the bell garland:

This fluelhorn was one of 12 instruments captured from the Jäger-Regiment zu Pferde Nr. 8 (Eighth Jaeger German Mounted Band) during WWI. It was transferred from the United States War Department, Office of the Quartermaster General, in 1935.
