“I Could Have Danced All Night” was featured in the musical, My Fair Lady, with music by Frederick Loewe and book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. My Fair Lady was based on the 1913 play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. My Fair Lady had its pre-Broadway at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. The show opened on Broadway at the Mark Hellinger Theatre on March 15, 1956 and subsequently moved to the Broadhurst Theatre and The Broadway Theatre for a record-breaking run of 2,717 performances after closing on September 29, 1962. This production of My Fair Lady received several Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical for Moss Hart, and Best Leading Actor and Actress for Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews, in 1957.
