This hat was made by G. W. Simmons & Co. in Boston, Massachusetts, about 1870. It is a "Kepi" style band hat made of felt with leather visor, top, and trim, with two gold-tone embossed buttons connected to a leather strap with metal buckle, and a gold-tone medallion embossed with music lyres, horns, and music. There is a label inside the hat:
