A purple lamé top (a) and multicolored fringe skirt (b), the “Soul Train Flame”, designed by Tamechi Briggs and worn by Cheryl Song on Soul Train, 1985.
The body of the top is made from a purple lamé and has a scoop neck design. The long sleeves are composed of wide bands of lamé in purple, blue, red, gold, and pink, with fringe at each shoulder in the same alternating colors. There is a zipper closure at the back neckline and interior shoulder pads. The skirt matches the shoulder fringe, composed of longer strips the same lamé fabrics attached to a thin purple waistband with a Velcro closure.
