[Archive 2007-09-22] 2007 Major League Soccer: Toronto FC end drought; lose to Crew

Toronto FC ended their Major League Soccer record goalscoring drought at 824 minutes in a 2-1 loss to Columbus Crew. The loss takes Toronto FC to a 10 game winless streak. Columbus ended a 7 game winless streak. The last time Columbus had won was against Toronto FC on July 20 when they won 2-0. Columbus' season record against Toronto is 2 wins and a draw from 3 games.

Miguel Canizalez opened the scoring to end the Major League Soccer record drought in the 2nd minute from within the penalty area. Toronto FC found many chances to increase their lead, but to no avail. Canizalez found himself in the starting lineup for the 1st time since April 14.

Columbus came out attacking in the 2nd half and it paid dividends in the 61st minute when Jason Garey scored the equalizer. Substitute Jacob Thomas scored the winner in the 83rd minute.

The next Toronto FC game is away to DC United on September 29 while Columbus Crew faces Los Angeles Galaxy at home on September 30.
