A Mission of the Heart: Story, Cast and Series Facts

Story and premise

Huang Yu, a strong and spirited girl working as a servant at the Xiafeng Pavilion, accidentally stumbles upon a secret operation by the Jinyiwei investigating a stolen silver case—and becomes the prime suspect of their cold and stoic commander, Lu Zhan. Though she eventually clears her name, her unusual abilities draw Lu Zhan's attention, and she is coerced into joining the Northern Jinfu Si as a junior constable. All Huang Yu wants is to earn enough money to retire peacefully, but her cold-faced boss keeps exploiting her at every turn. With her rare gift for forensic insight, she helps solve a series of mysterious cases, only to uncover the truth of her own past: her family was destroyed years ago by the powerful minister Jiang Ning. As memories resurface, so does her burning desire for revenge. Beneath Lu Zhan's iron-blooded exterior lies hidden tenderness, and he, Huang Yu, and the Minister of Justice Shen Pan become entangled in a triangle of rivalry, trust, and buried emotions. Together, they navigate deadly conspiracies in the imperial court. Amid blades and shadows, Huang Yu and Lu Zhan find love, expose the crimes of the treacherous Zhao Yutang, and clear her family's name. Behind every case lies a web of power and deceit, of love and hatred intertwined. From a streetwise nobody to a fearless game-changer, Huang Yu rises to stand beside Lu Zhan—guarding justice and writing a story of mutual redemption in turbulent times.
