Embrace You Through the Ashes: Story, Cast and Series Facts

Story and premise

Jiang Wu has always lived in fear of debt collectors due to her father's disappearance, until she meets Jiang Yan, a silent man always covered in wounds, who takes her in and protects her. What she does not know is that he is actually an undercover police officer named Lu Xiao, who has infiltrated a border town gang incognito. The two lonely souls grow closer, yet she can never see through the mist in his eyes. At a critical juncture of his mission, he leaves without a word, leaving only some money and a letter telling her to forget him. Four years later, she becomes a reporter for North City TV, while he, retired due to injuries, runs a homestay called "Yearning for Wu." Fate brings them together again—she arrives with an interview list, and he calmly says he is Lu Xiao. Be it Jiang Yan or Lu Xiao, he remains an indelible part of her life. After years of hating him and searching for him, she now realizes that him keeping secrets and pushing her away are just to protect her.
