Story and premise

New Granada, early 19th century. In this era, there are only two choices: one is either a Royalist or a Patriot. A fierce power struggle is underway, bringing with it injustice, countless tears, executions, war itself. Against this backdrop, extraordinary stories unfold, for people live each day literally as if it were their last.

This is the setting for the story of La Pola, an untamed spirit, a visionary driven by ideals and a burning desire to fight for freedom, a woman ahead of her time in an era where rampant chauvinism denies women any voice or say. In an age when love is still eternal and a single kiss means everything, La Pola experiences a tumultuous, painful, and passionate romance with Alejo Sabaraín. He is a man forbidden to her in every respect: a nobleman of Spanish lineage, from a different social class and background, and, crucially, a supporter of the Crown. In short, their relationship is viewed as a sin. Yet, the attraction proves so powerful that the couple strives to embrace their love, regardless of the obstacles, even if it means facing death.
