Story and premise

The civil-minded Emperor, a man of letters who despises martial arts, and his warrior Empress, a woman of the blade, have nothing but mutual disdain and deep distrust for each other until a freak accident swaps their bodies. Forced to accept their bizarre new reality, the two must walk in the other's skin. As they play each other's roles, misunderstandings unravel, and something unexpected takes root: love and trust. Trapped in the Empress's body, the Emperor endures the cold mockery of the concubines and the Empress Dowager, and suffers through the schemes and traps laid for an unloved queen. Only then does he realize the hardship she has silently borne. Meanwhile, inside the Emperor's body, the Empress finally understands why her husband has always regarded her family with suspicion.
