She Who Blazes: Story, Cast and Series Facts

Story and premise

In Kuizhou, beauty is measured by curves, while slim women are looked down upon. After inheriting her grandmother's Yanzhi Pavilion, Fang Zhuozhuo discovers a magical rouge made from the rare Qionghua blossom that transforms her into the voluptuous beauty Qingcheng, the pavilion's celebrated mistress. To fulfill her grandmother's final wish by winning the prestigious Beauty Selection Ceremony, she must secure a steady supply of Qionghua, a flower that grows only in the private garden of the Governor's residence. Determined to obtain the blossoms, Zhuozhuo marries Chu Shengyi, the Governor's third son. When her deception is exposed on their wedding day, she is reduced to the status of a concubine. Each enters the marriage with hidden motives: Zhuozhuo seeks the precious flowers, while Shengyi hopes to use Qingcheng's identity to rescue his true love, Ye Xin, from the manipulative Lady Li. After the Qionghua garden is destroyed in a fire, the two journey together to the black market in search of new seeds. As they cultivate the flowers side by side, an unexpected bond blossoms between them. Shengyi eventually discovers that Zhuozhuo and Qingcheng are one and the same. Joining forces, they rescue Ye Xin and uncover Lady Li's long-buried crimes, including the murder of Shengyi's birth mother, exposing her before all. With the outdated obsession for voluptuous beauty finally abandoned, Zhuozhuo takes rightful charge of Yanzhi Pavilion under her own name, while Shengyi promises to wait for her return.
