János Farkas (27 March 1942 – 29 September 1989) was a Hungarian footballer who played as a forward. During his club career he played for Vasas SC. At international level, he earned 33 caps and scored 20 goals for the Hungary national football team between 1961 and 1969, and participated in the 1962 FIFA World Cup, the 1964 European Nations' Cup, and the 1966 FIFA World Cup. He also won a gold medal in football at the 1964 Summer Olympics. He is particularly remembered for his fabulous goal at the 1966 FIFA World Cup against Brazil, contributing to a sensational 3–1 win against the incumbent champions.
