Joseph A. Golden: Biography and Background

Joseph A. Golden (born Joseph Aron Goldstein; November 16, 1866 – January 3, 1935) was an American film director, screenwriter, producer and playwright. After beginning his career in the theater, he became one of the directors employed by the Biograph Company in 1907. He subsequently worked for several production companies and in 1914 acquired Ludwig Erb's interest in the Crystal Film Company, which operated a studio and film-processing laboratory in the Bronx. Golden directed Pearl White in some of her earliest films and later directed the serials Wolves of Kultur (1918), The Great Gamble (1919) and The Whirlwind (1920). He also wrote plays and vaudeville sketches, including three works with Will M. Cressy.
