Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen No. 108 features the story “The Midas of Metropolis!,” written by Leo Dorfman and penciled by Curt Swan, who also provided the cover art. In the story, Olsen must spend a million dollars in a day in order to collect another million. The issue features a brief appearance by Frank Sinatra.
DC’s mostly lighthearted comic Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen ran for 163 issues between 1954-1972. Olsen, cub-reporter and later photojournalist for the fictional newspaper “The Daily Planet” appeared in early comics but was not named until a 1940 episode of the radio program of The Adventures of Superman. Since his introduction, Olsen has been a consistent fixture within the Superman/DC Comics Universe, portrayed on radio, film, comic books and video games.
