The Kenton Hardware Company of Kenton, Ohio made this cast-iron toy ambulance during the 1920s. The ambulance is grey with red crosses and “Ambulance” on each side. Kenton was one of the major manufacturers of cast iron toys, and auto-related toys were one of their big sellers. Originally called the Kenton Lock Manufacturing Co., this Ohio firm made its first cast iron toy (a bank) in 1893. Kenton began making toy cars in 1903.
