About the work
The LibriVox catalogue summary, preserved with the recording, reads:
LibriVox recording of Brown Book of the Hitler Terror by Dudley Leigh Aman Marley. Read in English by Beth Thomas; Pamela Nagami; Bruce Pirie; laurencetrask; realisticspeakers; Ciufi Galeazzi; Colleen McMahon; Warren Kati; Craig Campbell; Joseph Tabler The Brown Book was the first English publication to detail events which were currently happening in occupied Germany; book-burning and the destruction of universities, the development of concentration camps for Jewish people, forced labour and the use of the "shot while trying to escape" excuse for murder by police. This was the first time such events had been brought into the public consciousness, and the book was supported by documentation with names and dates - substantial evidence of the brutality which was taking place. The book was launched as a fundraiser to provide money to move Jewish families out of Europe to a "Jewish Autonomous Region" which was being set up as a safe place in Birobidzhan. - Summary by Beth Thomas
