About the work

The LibriVox catalogue summary, preserved with the recording, reads:

LibriVox recording of Herndon's Lincoln by William H. Herndon and Jesse William Weik. A biography of Abraham Lincoln by his long-time law partner, William Herndon and Herndon's collaborator, Jesse Weik. The book is notable for its extensive use of first hand interviews (unusual for its time) and for Herndon's overriding determination to convey an affectionate but frank picture of his law partner's life story and career as remembered by Lincoln's family, friends, associates and neighbors. The last five chapters address Lincoln's experience as president. (Summary by ralphk)
