Origin Betty Bates was a driven lawyer who not only fought in the counts, but which need be with her fists and a gun. Eventually she would become District Attorney of the unnamed city where she had hung out her shingle. Creation Before Matt Murdock showed up in the 60s and passed his first decade Betty Bates was the longest running lawyer in comics, and with a 10 year run still remains the longest running non-powered one to feature in stories all her own and not as a supporting character.
