Blaze had his own comic series in the late 1940, although it only ran for 5 issues. The series gave him his definitive name (Dave Carson), and gave a backstory, as a sheriff with an outlaw past, when he took the "Billy the Kid" gun that made him an effective killer, but it warped his mind to crime life. He trows away the cursed weapon and went straight. He did however made more guest appearances over the years.
