Captain Paragon is a AC Comics comic book character, the alter ego of Charlie Starrett, with over 94 comic issue appearances. First appears as Latigo Kid.

Who is Captain Paragon?

Creation Captain Paragon was created by Bill Black. His first appearance was in Paragon Presents #1 (1970), published by AC Comics. The character was born from Black's initial attempt to revive the original Captain Marvel in his 1969 fanzine, Paragon Golden Age Greats, Vol. 1, #2 . Following legal advice from his mentor, Martin L. Greim, to avoid copyright issues with Fawcett, Black destroyed the print run and redeveloped the concept into his own original hero, Captain Paragon. Black further expanded the character's mythos by revealing in Sentinels of Justice #6 (1987) that Captain Paragon's origin was intrinsically linked to a 19th-century Western hero, The Latigo Kid, who had first appeared as a separate character in Captain Paragon and the Sentinels of Justice #5 (1986). The secret identity, Charles Starrett, was a direct homage to the actor who portrayed the Durango Kid in Western films.
