Origin Very little is known about Charity. Originally from the American South, she made her living there as a fortune teller and storyteller. At some point she became acquainted with the magician Zatara . Eventually, after the locals stopped coming to visit her at the Dark Mansion she moved to Opal City . Creation Charity was created by Robert Kanigher and Howard Chaykin . She made her first appearance in Forbidden Tales of Dark Mansion #7 . She was significantly updated by James Robinson and Tony Harris . Character Evolution Bronze Age Initially introduced in the Bronze Age , Charity was only known as the Witch of the Dark Mansion.
