Origin Daniel Garret Daniel Garret was born Wednesday, December 6, 1916. His father was a New York police officer by the name of Michael Garret . They were a happy family until December 1920 when a flu epidemic broke out and Dan's mother died. This left Michael to raise Dan by himself. Dan was a good boy and looked out for the smaller kids in his neighborhood. He wanted to be a policeman like his father.
