Who is Duane Freeman?

Duane Jerome Freeman was the government liaison to the Avengers in the beginning of volume 3 of their title. He was one of the most supportive liaisons the Avengers ever had, being a long time fan of the team and having several Avengers collectibles. However, his relationship with the team was strained when they learned of his association with the Triune Understanding as it became clear Jonathan Tremont, the leader of the Triune Understanding, was executing plans to weaken and slander the Avengers. Freeman convinced the Avengers to let Triathalon into their ranks. He was killed in the destruction of Washington, D.C by Kang in issue #49 (February, 2002). He however was buried with honors in Arlington following the defeat of Kang.
