Who Is Enchantress? Origin, Powers and Key Facts

Enchantress is a DC Comics comic book character, the alter ego of June Moone, with over 454 comic issue appearances. By saying the word "Enchantress", June Moone becomes the magical being possessing her known as Enchantress, a powerful, dark sorceress considered to be among the most dangerous mystical threats on Earth. While both women constantly wrest for control over their shared body, June Moone/Enchantress has served as both hero and villain, being a member of the Shadowpact, the Suicide Squad, and the Justice League Dark.

Who is Enchantress?

Origin During a party at Terror Castle, freelance artist June Moone stumbled across a secret chamber that held a being named Dzamor, who granted her magic powers in order to become his mystical defender of justice and rid the world of all evil. With the word "Enchantress" , June could transform into a powerful witch with the potential for massive magical abilities. Creation Enchantress was created by Bob Haney and Howard Purcell. Character Evolution Silver Age / Earth-One In her first appearances, the Enchantress was a hero, as June Moone summoned the Enchantress to do good and battle evil. Dzamor informed June that when a certain astronomical alignment with the Moone occurred, the Enchantress would gain the necessary power to accomplish her goal. Unfortunately, Supergirl had to move the moone on one of her many capers, so the event never occurred for the Enchantress. This caused the Enchantress to snap and go mad, leading a life of evil. She was eventually jailed, before the event of Crisis on Infinite Earths.
