But the side effects were making him less human as a result, so he used various women to restore his humanity at the cost of their own, but when he tried the same trick with Raven from the superhero team the Titans, she was saved just in time and he was apparently killed from the shock of having the souls he collected from his other victims removed from HIM and returned to THEM.
