Who is Euryale?

In Greek mythology, Euryale is one of the three Gorgons, monstrous sisters with snakes for hair and the ability to turn anyone who looked at them into stone. Euryale, along with her sisters Stheno and Medusa, is the daughter of the sea deities Phorcys and Ceto. Euryale is often described as the most beautiful and immortal of the Gorgons. Unlike her sisters, she is not typically depicted as mortal, and her gaze does not possess the same petrifying power as that of Medusa. In some accounts, Euryale is said to be the mother of the monster Geryon by the giant Chrysaor. The most famous of the Gorgons is Medusa, whose head was eventually severed by the hero Perseus with the help of the gods Athena and Hermes. The head retained its petrifying power even after Medusa's death and was later used by Perseus as a weapon. The fate of Euryale and Stheno varies in different myths, but they are often depicted as mourning the death of their sister.
