A large cat named Sumo that wears a mawashi was a regular during the late 90's. In recent years, Ralph, a dimwitted Boston Terrier, is Grimmy closest friend. Even though Grimmy is just a pet dog, he does have the ability to talk to both animal and human characters. He has a very active imagination much like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbies that allows him to become Grimmzilla, Lobo the Arctic Wolf, and other creatures. He appears in over 8000 newspapers worldwide.
