Creation Her first appearances were in the fourth and fifth issue of Heroic Publishing's black-and-white Tigress magazine. She has subsequently appeared in color reprints of those stories in Champions #52 and #54, and in new stories in Champions #57 and #59. A more detailed picture of Harpyra's origins is revealed in Heroic Spotlight #13, in a 20-page adventure written and drawn by her creator, Paul Abrams.
