Hawk is a Hasbro comic book character, the alter ego of Clayton M. Abernathy, with over 463 comic issue appearances. Hawk is the field commander and leader of G.I. Joe. He is the original leader since they were formed by General Flagg.

Who is Hawk?

Biography Hawk's real name is Clayton M. Abernathy and he was born in Denver, Colorado. Hawk comes from a wealthy family whose influence enabled him to enroll in West Point where he graduated at the top of his class. He was even able to gain experience in the battlefield in several trouble spots. Hawk is extremely intelligent and perceptive. Later, Hawk became a target from malicious American forces seeking to destroy the G.I.Joe team for their own end. Roadblock led an unofficial and unauthorized team of Joes in a battle to rescue Hawk. This was assisted by Destro, who while an enemy of the Joe team, respected Hawk so much that he did not wish to see the man harmed by such dishonorable traitors.
