Origin When The Freak orders his men to kill Spawn one of them saves some of his Necroplasm . When the Freak kills him, the necroplasm is left in the alley. Eddie Beckett found the bag and kept it. When a thug killed him the necroplasm took control of his body and fused it with the garbage in the area creating the Heap. Spawn was attracted to the area known as the Dead Zone when he was ambushed and absorbed by The Heap. When Spawn awoke, he was in pitch black and only saw the ghost of the former Eddie Beckett who pointed him to the Greenworld.
