He washes out of Camp Washington and blames it on Slade. Also Bill thought that Slade had stolen his chance with Addie Kane , who was a an instructor at Camp Washington, who went on to be Slade's wife. Bill spends his life getting back at Slade. First by kidnapping his youngest son, Joseph Wilson , as the Jackal, and slits young Joey's throat, making him mute. He later recruits Slade's older son, Grant Wilson , into the H.I.V.E. organization which injects him with a serum that gives him super powers, but eventually kills him (a side-effect that Bill knew would happen).
