Who is Jan-De?

Jan-De was an assistant to Kar-Lu who was a surveyor. Both went off to survey an unexplored jungle area near the Eiu Sea. While surveying the area they noticed an iceberg in what should be warm waters. It turned out not to be an iceberg but an ice-craft in which emerged several Urrikarans. The Urrikarans wanted to capture Jan-De and Kar-Lu so that they could gather information on the city of Kandor in which they could invade. Both Jan-De and Kar-Lu fled from the Urrikarans. Jan-De headed for the dense region while Kar-Lu took the clear path to escape. The Urrikarans used a Quicksand Missile on Kar-Lu which caused the stable ground to turn into quicksand.
