The Grendels often go on nights of wild excess, killing and generally abusing the local populace. The wounded are brought to the hospital, which is often overflowing with patients. Klein does his best to help Dana in this constantly difficult position. One day the Grendel leaders, Hack , Lugey , and Skid come in to see one of their own wounded. They are very violent, and beat down Klein as they ask where he is. Dana, fed up, shoots and wounds Skid and tells them to leave.
