He was introduced in The King of Fighters '94 as the leader of the Japan team. Kyo is directly responsible for defeating Rugal Burnstein, the host of the 94' & 95' tournements. Prior to 1996 he is challenged by Leopold Goenitz, one of the Heavenly Kings of Orochi.
