Who is Marie?

Marie appears in Interlude , a four-part Mage backup story in Grendel . She waits to meet her lover, Etienne , at a sculpture park in the woods. He turns out to be an evil faerie, and turns into a demonic-looking horse. He attacks her, but is forestalled by the sudden appearance of Kevin Matchstick . Matchstick defeats Etienne and walks off, leaving Marie with no clue as to what on Earth just happened!.
