Max Parrish met Susan and Johnny Storm ( before they had super powers )at the funeral of his brother-in-law Henry Brandeis .Unknown to them all (what killed his brother-in-law was that he tampered with the Medallion of Zarathos ) was that Comte St.Germaine was looking for the medallion to awaken Dracula . St. Germaine sent zombies after the medallion that mysteriously appeared in johnny s pocket .The zombies chased Johnny , Sue and Max .Escaping the zombies with his neice Cammy driving ,they tried to go to the police for help .The police drove the zombies away .Going to the high school where his brother -in -law was a professor, Max and Johnny searched his office and found out that the Medallion was linked to St.Germaine .The zombies attacked them again but this time all four were confronted by St.Germaine himself. Demanding the Medallion St.Germaine chased the girls who went in one direction hoping they wouldnt be followed .Max and Johnny went back to rescue the girls and woke up Zarathos who tried to possess Johnny , but Max tricked him and became the Ghost Rider .Ater melting St.Germaine by driving his motorcycle into a water tank , Zarathos tried to claim Max `s body forever .
