Spillane was a comic book writer and created what can be considered Hammer's prototype, detective Mike Lancer , who debuted in Green Hornet Comics #10 (December, 1942). Even before launching I, the Jury , Spillane planned a comic strip in 1953 called " Mike Danger " which would be illustrated by Mike Roy .
