Although often cast as a misunderstood villain, he has also at times acted as a hero.
Who is Molecule Man?
Origin Owen Reece was a weak, shy man by nature. He was (as even Uatu said) a momma's boy , fearful and resentful of the world. Then, one day, he was transformed into the Molecule Man by a lab accident. While working at an atomic power plant Owen mistakenly activated an experiment device that opened a portal to another dimension. This portal caused him to be exposed to a powerful explosion of a strange energy. (This energy later turned out to be part of the energy of a Cosmic Cube , see below.) The explosion horribly disfigured his face with scars in the shape of lightning bolts, but it also granted him immense power, which he used to take out his pent-up frustrations on the world. Creation Molecule Man was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Fantastic Four #20. Major Story Arcs Early Days Owen Reece Reece grew up in the town of Dinosaur, Colorado.
