Who Is Phobia? Origin, Powers and Key Facts

Phobia is a DC Comics comic book character, the alter ego of Angela Hawkins III, with over 154 comic issue appearances. Angela Hawkins was born into British aristocracy. She has the psychic ability to detect other people's fears and project them with great intensity. Frightened by her powers, Angela's parents sent her away: causing Phobia to have a life-long fear of being alone.

Who is Phobia?

Origin Angela Hawkins discovered at a young age that she had the psychic ability to read other people's fears and to those into their minds with nightmarish intensity. Angela's powers caused her to grow up hardened to the sensibilities and morality of others. She used her abilities to manipulate those around her and to fulfil her every whim. Angela's parents eventually sent her to a 'hospital' . Feeling abandoned and lone, she vowed to use her powers to protect herself and to strike fear into those around her. With such powers at her disposal and no outlet with which to exercise them fully, Angela Hawkins lived as an outcast for years. She happily accepted an offer by The Brain and Monsieur Mallah to join the new Brotherhood of Evil , which she came to regard as the family she never had. Creation Phobia was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artists George Pérez and Tatjana Wood for DC Comics ' series The New Teen Titans .
