Origin A criminal from Germany, the Rattle had a bionic tale affixed to his spine. The Rattler joined the Serpent Society after receiving an invitation from Sidewinder . During the initiation test, Rattler, Anaconda , and Cobra encountered Captain America . Though Anaconda battled the hero, Rattler protected Cobra from Captain America's shield with his vibration wave. The pair then fled, though they succeeded their test. Creation Rattler was created by Mark Gruenwald and Paul Neary in 1985 and first appeared in Captain America # 310. Character Evolution The Rattler later participated in the mission to assassinate MODOK, and later aided Viper in her invasion of the Serpent Society. Along with his bionic tail, he eventually began using a "Rattling Gun," which is capable of rattling his enemies' rib-cages apart.
