Background Roadblock, real name Marvin F. Hinton, is the tremendously strong, brave and loyal Heavy Machine Gunner for the GI Joe Team. Perhaps more than anyone, he believes in his role as an American Soldier. His personal weapon, the Browning M-2 .50 caliber HMG, weighs almost 150 pounds, and is generally crewed by THREE soldiers in the Army! Roadblock is also a skilled gourmet chef, and joined the Army originally because an Army recruiter convinced him the US Army could teach cooking just as well as the famed Escoffier School in France. Finding himself totally disgusted by KP duty in basic training, Roadblock transferred to the Infantry. At some point, he became acquainted or friendly with his future Joe teammates Duke and Flint . Roadblock's first action with the Joe Team occurred when GI Joe Commanding Officer General Flagg was being laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery after being murdered by Major Bludd . Cobra Commander learned of the full-dress funeral, and over Destro 's objections sent the prototype "Rattler" ground attack jet to strike GI Joe while they were vulnerable.
