Scooby-Doo is a Company-Licensed comic book character, the alter ego of Scoobert Doo, with over 1,283 comic issue appearances. Scooby-Doo is a Great Dane who is the pet and best friend of Shaggy Rogers. Due to their cowardice, Scooby-Doo (and Shaggy) are often bribed by their friends (Velma, Daphne and Fred) to go on several of their adventures and solve mysteries using Scooby Snacks.

Creation Scooby (originally intended to be called a sheepdog called Too Much) was created for a unaired show called 'Mysteries Five" which was would have a featured a band who balanced Monster fighting with their musical career in a similar vein to Josie And The Pussycats . Designer Iwao Takamoto consulted a Great Dane breeder to learn the makings of a prize-winning Great Dane and specifically designed "Two-Much" to be the opposite. Two Much was renamed Scooby-Doo after Frank Sinatra's trademark scat following his song "Strangers In The Night" Scooby-Doo The eldest of Family Scrappy Doo Scrappy Doo . Scooby's young nephew (and son of Scooby's sister Ruby Doo), Scrappy is the bravest of Scooby's relatives. Scrappy became a recurring character in the Scooby Doo series beginning in 1979, and was noted for being quite headstrong and always wanting to face off in a fight against the various villains (unlike his uncle). Scooby and Shaggy were present at Scrappy's birth. Yabba-Doo : According to Scrappy and Yabba-Doo Yabba is Scooby's brother, a white dog owned by Deputy Dusty in the American southwest.
