Origin Average Joe Joe Hamill was a stereotypical construction worker in Gotham City . One day he had a job at the demolition of a burned down building, where the "supervillain" Tony Finch lived. Joe and his best pal Mike openly ogled a beautiful redhead passing by. She cursed at them and walked away amid their cat calls. When Joe and Mike were about to leave, Joe noticed the strange looking device on the debris. A shining gold dial with only four letters in them: H-E-R-O. Joe was fascinated by the device. Not knowing what it was and what it was able to do.
