Who is Tam al'Thor?
Origin Born and raised in the Two Rivers , Tam al'Thor was a restless youth, and ran away from home at a young age. He travelled to Illian and joined the army there, joining the shock troops known as the Companions. He rose to the rank of Second Captain during his time with the Companions, and fought in the Whitecloak War and two of the wars between Illian and Tear. He also fought during the Aiel War, and was present at the Blood Snow on Dragonmount, outside the walls of Tar Valon . Following the conclusion of the battle he found a baby lying on the slopes of Dragonmount next to its mother, who had died in childbirth. Tam and his wife Kari adopted the boy and returned to his home in the Two Rivers to raise the child, who they named Rand . Kari died soon after returning home, and Tam refused to remarry, instead raising Rand on his own on a small farm that dealt mainly in wool and tabac. Creation Tam was created by Robert Jordan for his book series The Wheel of Time , making his first appearance in the first book in the series, The Eye of the World .
